Named after the Roman deity,Mercury, messenger of the gods, is a rocky planet and the smallest one (of the solar system) having only 2440 km radius and it’s the closest planet to the sun, having the shortest orbital period (about 88 days) and has no known natural satellites.

Imagine that you took a 91.700.000 km trip to Mercury. You would have a very interesting view, because you would see, facing the sun, a burned yellow-ish half, but, opposite to that, you would also observe, a grey and obscure half. That happens because a day in Mercury is 58 earth days, so one of the sides isn’t exposed to the sun in a relatively long time. Because of that, Mercury has the high temperature amplitude of almost 600 degrees Celsius (-173 to 437). It hasn’t got a very substancial atmosphere (mainly consisted of potassium, sodium, atomic oxigem, argonium etc), so, there are many impact craters.
You probably know that because of all of those factors Mercury isn’t suitable for life…But, who knows? Maybe there’s a mercurian looking to the sky, and wondering if there’s anything out there,or that it would be impossible to have life on Earth because there’s to much oxygen! The possibilities are endless and breath taking. What would be the point of everything if they weren’t?
